Safety tips for buying and selling on Adjungle.pk

Adjungle.pk is a free marketplace where buyers and sellers deal with each other directly. We never handle payments or deliveries, and we never ask for your bank details, passwords or one-time codes. Most deals go smoothly — these tips help you spot the few that don’t.

The golden rule: if someone pushes you to pay before you have seen the item, or asks you to share a code sent to your phone, stop and walk away.

Meeting in person

Meet in a busy public place in daylight — a café, a mall, a petrol station with cameras, or outside a bank.
Bring a friend or family member, especially for high-value items.
Tell someone where you are going and who you are meeting.
Inspect the item carefully before any money changes hands. Test phones, laptops and appliances on the spot.
Never go alone to an unfamiliar home or a remote location for a deal.

Paying and getting paid

Never pay in advance. No booking fee, no “token money”, no delivery charge, no customs fee — not for any reason, however convincing the story. A genuine seller will let you see the item first.

Pay in cash or by a bank transfer you make yourself, once you have the item in your hands.
If you receive a payment screenshot, check your own bank app or JazzCash / Easypaisa balance before handing anything over. Screenshots are easily faked.
Never share the one-time code (OTP) that your bank, JazzCash or Easypaisa sends you. No real buyer or seller ever needs it.
Be suspicious of “overpayments” where a buyer sends too much and asks you to refund the difference — the original payment is usually reversed later.
Do not accept cheques from strangers.

Common scams to recognise

Advance-fee scam: the item is “in another city” and will be sent once you pay a deposit or courier fee. It never arrives.
Fake courier / TCS / Leopards link: a link or app that asks you to pay a small fee to release a parcel. Real couriers do not work this way.
Too-good-to-be-true price: a new iPhone or a car far below market value is bait. Compare prices before you get excited.
Army / overseas seller story: “I am posted abroad, my agent will deliver” is a classic trick to avoid meeting.
OTP fraud: the caller claims to be from your bank, Easypaisa, JazzCash or even Adjungle and asks you to read out a code. Hang up.
WhatsApp-only sellers who refuse to meet, take calls, or show the item on a live video call.
Phishing links: messages asking you to “verify your Adjungle account” or “claim a prize”. We never send these.

Vehicles

Check the registration book, CNIC copy of the owner and that the chassis and engine numbers match the documents.
Verify the vehicle online through the provincial excise portal (e.g. Sindh, Punjab or Islamabad excise & taxation) before paying.
Ask for the original file, token tax history and any pending challans.
Take a test drive and, for anything expensive, have a mechanic inspect it.
Complete the ownership transfer at the excise office — do not rely on an open letter alone.

Property

Confirm the seller actually owns the property: ask for the title documents, allotment letter or registry, and cross-check with the relevant authority or housing society office.
Never pay a “token” before seeing the property and its papers in person.
For plots and files, verify with the society or development authority that the plot exists, is not disputed, and has no dues outstanding.
Use a registered lawyer or property agent for the agreement and transfer.
Be careful of the same property being listed by several different people.

Jobs

Genuine employers never charge a registration, training, uniform or processing fee.
Be wary of jobs that promise large earnings for little work, or that are only discussed over WhatsApp.
Do not share your CNIC, bank details or passport scans until you have met the employer at a real office.
Research the company. If it has no address, no website and no other employees you can find, be cautious.

Mobiles and electronics

Check the IMEI: dial *#06# on the phone and send the number by SMS to 8484 to confirm it is PTA-approved and not reported stolen.
Make sure the box, charger and accessories match the phone, and that the phone is not locked to another account (Apple ID, Google account, Mi account).
Test everything in front of the seller: screen, camera, speaker, charging, SIM, Wi-Fi.
Ask for the original purchase receipt where possible.
Avoid sealed-box deals at unusually low prices — these are often empty or refilled boxes.

Protecting your account

Never share your Adjungle password or a code sent to your phone with anyone, including someone claiming to work for us.
Use a strong password and keep your phone number on your profile up to date.
Only chat and share details inside the app until you trust the other person.
Log out on shared devices and keep your app updated.

If something goes wrong

Use the Report button on any ad or profile that looks suspicious — every report is reviewed by our team, and repeat offenders are removed. If you have been defrauded, contact your bank or wallet provider immediately, then report the incident to the FIA Cyber Crime Wing (helpline 1991 or complaint.fia.gov.pk) and your local police.

You can also contact us and we will help where we can. Adjungle.pk is not a party to any transaction and cannot recover money paid to another user, so please deal carefully.
