How to Sell Electronics Online in Pakistan (What Buyers Check)

Electronics are among the fastest-moving categories on Pakistani classifieds, and among the easiest to sell badly. Buyers of used electronics are cautious, technically literate, and have been burned before — so they arrive with a specific list of things they want answered.
Answer those things in the listing and the item sells quickly. Leave them out and you get either silence or a stream of the same repeated questions.
Key takeaways
- State the exact model number, not the marketing name. Buyers search by model.
- Show it powered on and working in the photographs.
- Warranty status is a major selling point — state it either way.
- Include the box, accessories and receipt in photos if you have them.
- Disclose faults plainly. They are found at the meetup regardless.
- Reset the device and sign out of all accounts before handover.
What electronics buyers actually want to know
The list is short and consistent across categories.
| Question | Why it matters to them |
|---|---|
| Exact model | Specifications vary hugely between variants of the same product name |
| Age | Determines remaining useful life and fair price |
| Warranty status | Remaining warranty is worth real money |
| Original or repaired | Replaced parts reduce value and reliability |
| Complete or not | Box, charger, cables, remote, manual |
| Reason for selling | A sensible reason reassures; no reason raises suspicion |
| Known faults | They will find them anyway — disclosure builds trust |
Every one of these belongs in the listing. Each one you omit is either a lost buyer or a message you will have to answer individually.
Use the exact model number
This is the most common and most costly mistake in electronics listings.
“Samsung LED TV” tells a buyer almost nothing and matches almost no searches. Samsung sells dozens of televisions. The specification, panel type, resolution and price all vary enormously between them.
The model number is printed on the rating plate, on the box, or available in the device settings. Finding it takes a minute and it is the difference between appearing in searches and not.
Photographing electronics
Electronics have specific photographic requirements that most sellers miss.
1 Show it switched on
A powered-off screen tells a buyer nothing and looks like something you are hiding. A television, monitor or laptop photographed displaying a clear image proves the panel works and has no dead pixels or backlight problems.
2 Photograph the rating plate
The sticker showing model and serial number. It proves the exact variant and signals that you have nothing to hide.
3 Show the ports and connections
Charging port, HDMI, USB, audio jack. Damaged ports are a common fault and buyers specifically look for them.
4 Include everything that comes with it
Lay out the box, charger, cables, remote and manual together in one photograph. This visibly raises perceived value and pre-empts the obvious question.
5 Photograph the flaws
Scratches, dents, a worn keyboard, a chipped corner. Disclosure costs you far less than discovery at the meetup.
6 Avoid flash and reflections
Screens and glossy surfaces reflect badly. Shoot in daylight, slightly off-axis, with the flash off.

Category-specific notes
Mobile phones
- State PTA status. It is the single most important fact and buyers filter on it. Check by sending the IMEI to 8484.
- State battery health if it is good — screenshot it.
- Disclose any screen replacement, and whether the part was original.
- Sign out of all accounts and factory reset before handover, ideally in front of the buyer.
Laptops
- State processor generation, RAM, storage type and size, and screen size — buyers search on these.
- Mention battery backup time honestly; a weak battery is expected on older machines but should be disclosed.
- Note any dead pixels, keyboard wear or hinge looseness.
- Wipe the drive properly before handover, not just delete files.
Televisions
- Screen size, resolution and whether it is a smart TV are the three facts buyers filter on.
- Photograph it displaying a bright, full-screen image to demonstrate panel condition.
- Mention whether the original remote and stand are included — replacements are awkward to source.
- Arrange transport in advance; televisions are fragile and awkward to move.
Home appliances
- Capacity matters — CFT for refrigerators, tons for air conditioners, kilograms for washing machines.
- State whether it is inverter technology, which buyers actively search for.
- Be honest about servicing history and any gas refills or repairs.
- Be clear about who arranges removal and transport.
Pricing electronics
Electronics depreciate quickly, and sellers frequently anchor to what they paid rather than what the market now pays.
- Start from the current new price of your exact model, or the closest current equivalent if discontinued.
- Apply age. Most consumer electronics lose a substantial share of value in the first year and continue steeply thereafter.
- Add for remaining warranty, complete packaging and original accessories.
- Deduct for repairs, missing accessories, cosmetic damage and weak batteries.
- Check live listings for the same model before setting your number.
Repairs rarely pay for themselves. With the exception of cheap, visible faults, you generally do not recover the cost of a significant electronics repair in the sale price. Disclose the fault and price accordingly instead.
Before handover
Wipe your data properly. Deleting files is not the same as erasing them. Perform a full factory reset on phones, tablets and laptops, and sign out of every account — cloud storage, email, banking apps, social media. On phones this also removes activation locks that would otherwise make the device unusable to the buyer and bring them straight back to you.
- Factory reset and sign out of all accounts
- Remove SIM and memory cards
- Test everything once more so nothing surprises either party
- Gather all accessories that you advertised
- Meet somewhere with power so the buyer can test it properly
Frequently asked questions
In short
Exact model number in the title. Powered on in the photos. Warranty status, age and faults stated plainly. Everything included laid out in one shot. Priced against today’s market, not what you paid. Wiped and signed out before handover.
Electronics buyers are cautious because they have reason to be. Answering their questions before they ask is what separates a listing that sells from one that sits.
